The Malaysian Government allows foreign citizens to invest in Malaysia’s financial market through the purchase of shares, bonds and debentures and other financial instruments.

However, to protect the interest of local investors, there are several guidelines that a foreign investor would need to follow.  The Central Bank of Malaysia, the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (MIDA) and the Foreign Investment Committee are among the agencies that enforce these guidelines.
