Employees who are eligible for termination benefits and their entitlements are as follows:
- Have served in the public service for more than a year but less than two years: 10 days’ wages for each year of service.
- Have served in the public service for more than two years but less than five years: 15 days’ wages for each year of service.
- Have served in the public service for five years or more: 20 days’ wages for each year of service
The following are circumstances which dictate why a terminated employee may be ineligible for benefits:
- Have served in the public service for less than 12 months before termination date.
- Service contract has been renewed or continued and the benefits stated in the service terms and conditions are not lesser than the previous terms and conditions
- If the employer has given a notice on the continuation of contract seven days before the previous contract terminates; with the benefits stated in the services terms and conditions is not lesser from the previous terms and conditions.
- After receiving the termination notice, the employee leaves the employment without the employer’s consent or compensates the employer in lieu of notice.
