The Parliament, the legislative authority for Malaysia formulates laws applicable to the country as a whole.

The Parliament passes Federal laws, makes amendments to existing federal laws, examines the government’s policies, approves the government’s expenditures and approves new taxes.  It also serves as the forum for debate and deliberations; and the focus of public opinion on national affairs.

The Malaysian Parliament is divided into three components:
